New Day, New Big Brothers Big Sisters
Potential lives within every young person. Yet hundreds of thousands of Canadian children and youth are still in urgent need of someone who will stand in their corner and ignite their potential.
That’s why Big Brothers Big Sisters – a 106-year-old organization, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Niagara, a 55-year old agency, is being reinvented and reintroduced to the world.! The new look is a call to action for Canadians to be a part of something bigger, a movement to prove how critical relationships are to our success, mental health and wellbeing.
Our modernization is meant to excite and engage a new generation of volunteers and donors,to give them an opportunity to make a true difference in this world, and to change their life and the life of a young person.
Our new vision is that all young people realize their full potential; our mission is to enable life-changing mentoring relationships to ignite the power and potential of young people. We want to ignite the power and potential that already exists within every young person. We need more people, more volunteers, and more donors to join the mentoring movement and create that spark.
Our core service of creating life-changing relationships stays the same. Our new brand demonstrates the power within young people and how essential mentoring is to igniting that potential. Our mentors are everyday advocates whose simple acts make a big impact.
Our new look and brand reflect months of research and consultation with over 3,500 volunteer mentors (“Bigs”), young people (“Littles”), parents and guardians, mentoring leaders, and members of the general public from coast to coast. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada worked with Bain & Co. and Barkley on the research and brand transformation.
The new Big Brothers Big Sisters logo demonstrates the power of three. The family, our organization, and the mentor– the three players who walk with young people through life’s joys and hardship, and ignite their power and potential, helping a young person forge a new path forward.
We are about connectivity, opening up new pathways, and shaping productive, healthy and engaged citizens. We are all Bigger Together.
Since 1964, Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Niagara have been matching children with adult role models in professionally supported mentoring relationships that help them achieve their biggest possible futures. Investing in young people’s futures pays off, with a social return on investment of $23-to-1 through improved economic, health, and social outcomes. In 2018 our agency provided mentoring services to 607 children/youth within our service areas plus a waitlist of about 150 children.
We will be launching a new video for the new Big Brothers Big Sisters brand that’s refreshed and re-charged, demonstrating what is possible when we work with young people to ignite their power and potential. It puts young people at the center and showcases the strength and resiliency within them.
With it we’ll be able to reach more people and get them excited to be part of something bigger than themselves.A movement that ignites the power and potential of young people across Canada.
